Men and women after a union dissolution. Gender differences in economic and living condition

The increasing instability of conjugal unions in the European countries has urged social researchers to deepen gender studies, both from the point of view of the factors that affect the risk of a union break-up, and from that which deals with the consequences of couple instability. In this work, we show male-female differences in behaviour and living conditions following the break-up of a union. Our focus is on people already separated or divorced in Italy and, using various data sources, we investigate on living arrangement strategies of individuals after the event; on changes in economic and social status; on changes in life-style, habits, and health conditions. We use different data sets (FFS, EHCP, IMF) and both a micro and macro approach.
